In this unit we'll talk and talk about music, allowing us to learn about its evolution, types of music and the emotions it provokes. We'll also analyze 2 short films related to the importance of music in our lives and even create a class CD.

Metodología:

1. Brainstorming adjectives describing emotions.

2. Watch short film from London's Barbican Centre- Classical music season. Talk about emotions seen.

3. Discuss a number of questions related to why we listen to music.

4. Elicit and organize vocabulary related to music.

5. Debate some sentences related to music.

6. Listen to psychologist Victoria Williamson discussing the role of music on BBC Radio 4's "Today" and do some exercisese on it (interactive task, comprehension quizz, crossword)

7. Voice forum voxopop.com Leave your message on the question: Why do we listen to music?

8. Diagram of the evolution of music allowing us to listen to different genres along time.

9. Research about a genre and prepare a PADLET (digital poster) presentation. Share and write two questions abut it to be used at the final class QUIZZ. Who learned more?

10. Sing a song filling gaps collaboratively in lyricstraining.com

11. Watch short film MIXTAPE and talk about it creating narratives, brainstorming what will happen, discussing emotions...

12. Create a class mixtape.

Recursos Materiales:

- Computer with Internet access and PDI/ projector for the teacher.
- Computer with Internet access for each group of 2- 3 students.
- Grid for writing down information about presentations.
- Rubric for peer-evaluations

Sugerencias:

I suggest creating a Padlet presentation although there is a richer option called "Glogster". There used to be a free version but it no longer exists so, if you can afford a subscription, try "Glogster EDU".

This proposal should be evaluated attending to:
1) Individual work: participation, interaction with classmates, handing out individual tasks.
2) Group work: ability to work together, performance (clear, ordered dialogue; use of new vocabulary and expressions; turn-taking; pronunciation; originality)
